Dr. Sung Ji Ahn is a postdoctoral associate in Neuroscience, working with Dr. Costantino Iadecola at the Feil Family Brain and Mind Research Institute of Weill Cornell Medicine. Her work is focused on the mechanisms of neurovascular coupling and the role of the brain vasculature in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. She seeks to achieve a thorough understanding of vascular physiology at microvascular level and then layer her findings on the complex nature and progression of age-related cognitive impairment.
Dr. Ahn obtained her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Hanyang University in South Korea, M.S. in Neuroscience from Seoul National University and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University under Dr. Chris B. Schaffer, where she utilized multi-photon optics to precisely manipulate and picture the health and function of the brain.
