Dr. Martin is a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Dr. Catherine Hartley at New York University, where she uses computational modeling and brain imaging methods to better understand how behavioral and neural variability facilitates learning across development in humans. She received her Ph.D. at Columbia University under the mentorship of Dr. Kevin Ochsner, with the support of an NIMH NRSA predoctoral fellowship. In her doctoral work, Dr. Martin used functional and structural MRI to examine the developmental trajectory of neural systems associated with emotional reactivity and regulation. She also received a master’s degree in Mind, Brain, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a master’s degree in teaching secondary school social sciences from UC Santa Cruz, and a B.A. in history from NYU. Prior to starting her career in science, Dr. Martin was a history teacher at Berkeley High School.
