Pedro Rabelo Olivetti, MD, PhD, is a
physician-scientist in psychiatry studying
the development of striatal neural circuits
and adult behavior. He completed a
combined MD/PhD training program at
Baylor College of Medicine in 2014 and
finished his psychiatry residency training
at Columbia University in 2018. After
several years of clinical training, he has
completed a NIMH T32 research fellowship
under the mentorship of Dr. Christoph
Kellendonk at Columbia University.
His goal is to become an independent
investigator in neurodevelopmental
mechanisms affecting basal ganglia circuit
physiology, cognitive, and motivational
dysfunction. He has submitted a
competitive K08 Career Development
Award application that, would provide
the means to complete the necessary
training in cognitive assessments of mice,
in vivo fiberphotometry measurements
of dopamine release dynamics, in vivo
calcium imaging in behaving mice,
as well as laboratory management,
grantsmanship and presentation skills.
