The Foundation is a longtime supporter of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, providing many grants over two decades that contribute to the Museum’s acquisitions, galleries, and general operations.
In 2022, the Foundation made a major grant commitment to support the new Near Eastern and Cypriot Art wing of the Museum, to be called the Leon Levy Gallery. Past support includes the Dietrich von Bothmer Research Fellowship in Greek and Roman Art endowment established in 2004, and the Thomas J. Watson Library endowment in 2008.
Prior to the Foundation’s inception, Leon Levy and Shelby White made a historic gift to The Met to create the iconic Leon Levy and Shelby White Court for Hellenistic and Roman Art, the centerpiece of the Museum’s Greek and Roman Galleries. It opened in 2007.
