In 2024, the Foundation endowed the Shelby White and Leon Levy Associate Director of Conservation, the highest ranking conservation staff position at the New York Public Library (NYPL). This leadership role will provide expert strategic and administrative oversight for the conservation of the special and general collections of the three NYPL research centers. Additionally, a portion of the grant funds will support a multi-year conservation fellowship program.
