The Lod Mosaic is an extraordinary 3-part Roman mosaic of exceptional quality and in an excellent state of preservation, measuring approximately 50 feet long by 27 feet wide, and dated to A.D. 300. It was discovered in Lod, Israel in 1996.
Grants from the Foundation enabled the Israel Antiquities Authority to conserve the mosaic and to construct the Shelby White and Leon Levy Lod Mosaic Archaeological Center. Opened to the public in 2022, the Center is the permanent home of the Lod Mosaic and has quickly become a cultural and community nexus for the people of Lod.
